Valentine’s Day has rolled around, and once again I find myself single.
I haven’t given up hope though! Two smiley faces in one email is definite flirting isn’t it?
Sigh.

February’s recipe on the calendar is chocolate hazelnut cupcakes.
Now. I am a fan of chocolate, I am a fan of hazelnuts (well, Nutella which is what is in the icing) and I am a fan of cupcakes so there’s not really a lot that can go wrong here is there?
No! No there isn’t. These were great so this is basically just a lot of pictures of them.
So, before Christmas I went to Tesco. They had an offer on Terry’s Chocolate Oranges which was something ridiculous like ‘buy one get two free’. I saved £4!
I told the lady at the checkout that I liked her optimism when she pointed out that the best before date wasn’t until March.
Welcome to a brand new series here on Flynntacular!
When I bought a cake magazine just before Christmas, it came with a free calendar which has a recipe on each month. So this year I’ll be baking my way through the calendar…
I made a cake for someone at work because he was leaving one department and going into another one. I wanted to make a drip cake with mini doughnuts on the top.
I had been so organised up to this point – the only thing left to do the night before the cake was due was the chocolate ganache for the drip and the mini doughnuts.
However, the drip part didn’t really work and I wasn’t happy with the cake. Maybe I’m too picky but I like things to look as good as possible! So anyway, here is what happened, via notes written on my phone throughout the experience, the evening before the cake was due and after chocolate ganache ruined my life…
Well it’s January and everyone in my office is ‘eating healthily’ (including me, blorft).
They don’t want me to thwart their efforts by bringing in a chocolate cake, so what better time to continue on from my avocado cake experiment than test out another recipe, this time… with sweetcorn!
I’m back! After a short hiatus, during which I lost the baking bug a little bit, I’m back and ready for 2018. Happy New Year to all (four – hi mum) of my readers!
I’m going to aim to post on here twice a month, but I have a few posts in draft from last year that are ready to go, so for the first couple of months of the year it might be a bit more than that.
Let’s kick off 2018 with one of those posts – I made these last year and they were the third of my Bakes Box kits. The second was a Smores kit that I didn’t end up posting on here, but I had a bit of a disaster with the marshmallow anyway. So, here we go – onwards and upwards into 2018…
I really don’t think there’s anything better than spending the weekend in the kitchen baking, with a Spotify playlist on the go.
And last weekend that’s what I did.
Well after posting an adventurous avocado cake last week I thought I’d post something slightly tamer this week, albeit it’s about a cake I don’t really like.
I don’t really like dried fruit. “Does she like any food?!”, I hear you exclaim. “She doesn’t like avocado, she doesn’t like dried fruit! What does she eat???”
Potatoes.

“Replace the butter in cookies with avocado! You can’t tell the difference!”
NO, I shout. I LIKE BUTTER.
“You’re having eggs and toast? Why not have it with smashed avocado? Nom nom nom!!!!!!”
NO, I shout. I JUST LIKE EGGS.
