For my birthday, one of my best friends bought me a three month subscription to Bakes Box, which is very exciting.
Basically, a box turns up every month with a load of ingredients and a recipe in it, and you make what’s inside. It’s definitely more fun than bills and pizza menus, which is usually the kind of post I get. Continue reading “Bakes Box: Whipped Chocolate Ganache Doughnuts”
At the end of last year my dad was diagnosed with cancer. After an operation to remove it, he’s been going to hospital every other week for chemo, which hasn’t been all that fun for him at all.
Anyway, he’s now finished his chemo and went back in to get the results of his CT scan to make sure he’s cancer free.
I have tried numerous times to make brownies and all the recipes I have tried have been a failure. I’m talking raw-in-the-middle failure.
I know they are supposed to be squidgy, but not raw!
I even bought packet mix once (I know, I know) to see if that worked, and it didn’t. Still raw.
I had given up hope, until Mary Berry (who else?) saved the day.
At work we decided to have an afternoon tea one lunchtime to celebrate an impending wedding, an upcoming birthday and for a bit of team bonding.
I volunteered to make all the cakes which seemed like an excellent idea at the time. After the fourth trip to Tesco in a row, I changed my mind a bit.
