Chocolate Orange madness!

So, before Christmas I went to Tesco. They had an offer on Terry’s Chocolate Oranges which was something ridiculous like ‘buy one get two free’. I saved £4!

I told the lady at the checkout that I liked her optimism when she pointed out that the best before date wasn’t until March.

Anyway, I found myself in possession of three Terry’s Chocolate Oranges. Obviously I ate one, which left me with two to use.

I used some to top some chocolate cupcakes, using a recipe by a really talented baker I follow on Instagram, @LeticiaBakes. She makes amazing looking cakes and sometimes sells her recipes, so I bought this one. The cupcakes were just chocolate with chocolate buttercream icing, but I topped them with chocolate orange segments as that’s what she’d done in her picture of the cupcakes.

I did find that the buttercream made more than I needed for the number of cupcakes I had – considerably more. It was quite nice though so if I use it again I might freeze the rest for later.

People at work seemed to enjoy them and they looked sweet.

I used my remaining orange segments to decorate a cake I found on a blog after I Googled ‘chocolate orange cakes’.

I didn’t do anything to this except make it exactly as it says in the blog post. This was for someone at work who took it home for her family. I did cut a tiny bit out to make sure it wasn’t dry, but I couldn’t really tell. She said it was nice though.

I do have a really good chocolate cake recipe somewhere but I don’t know where it is or who wrote it. I should probably try and find it actually. In future I think I’d probably use that one, but it’s always good to try out other people’s recipes. (Since writing this blog post, I have found the recipe hooray)

People were impressed with the presentation of the cake – to be fair I was quite chuffed with how it turned out.

Orange you glad you read this blog? I hope you found it appeeling.

I had to Google ‘puns about oranges’ for those you know.

I’ve run out of juice now.

I’ll see myself out.
