Picture post: things I’ve made on courses

Pastries picture postWhen browsing through my phone the other day, I found a load of pictures of things I’ve made when I’ve been on baking courses.

This led me to reminisce about going to other places, which we obviously can’t do at the moment. So I thought I would put some of my favourite pictures into a blog post.

Where I can remember what they are, I’ve added that. But there’s quite a few that I have no idea as these courses were at least three years ago.

Anyway, I hope you like these pictures. Next year I’m going to make an effort to do more things like this. I feel a bit cooped up at the moment, I don’t know about you! But it is what it is and it’s not changing at the moment.

I made a delicious quiche

When I turned 30, I went to Devon on a week-long patisserie course at the Ashburton Cookery School.

It was a lovely way to spend a week; there were 8 of us in total and the tutor was really friendly. We were based in a beautiful kitchen and the tutor demonstrated various things, which we would then make. The small class size meant that the tutor was always around to help, which was so valuable – as a trained chef, his techniques and tips were great. Continue reading “I made a delicious quiche”

A very lovely chocolate fudge cake

Well today we’ve opened up the old Cadbury’s cookbook again. Last time I did that was for World Chocolate Day and I made the chocolate covered gingerbread from the front cover of the book.

Today I have delved further I to the book, into the cake section, and I’m making a chocolate fudge cake!

Now I made it in a ring tin because that’s what the book says, but halved the recipe because my tin was smaller than the one the book specifies. I just did the all in one method too for minimal washing up!
